Pre-Op Surgical Instructions
Local Anesthesia / Nitrous Oxide
Local Anesthesia is used to numb the nerves in a specific part of the mouth where surgery is being performed. The patient is fully aware of their surroundings during surgery. Nitrous oxide is an inhaled gas that causes relaxation.
IV Sedation
Intravenous Sedation (IV Sedation) involves medication given through a vein in your arm or hand, which will cause relaxation. You will not be unconscious, but there will be very little recall of the events surrounding surgery. IV Sedation does include local anesthesia (numbing).
